About the Event

BAMS Fest and KING Boston present another episode of ARTDACITY

Topic: "The Soul in Food: The necessity of Black restaurants and chefs in culture and community"

From vegan to hearty, Black-owned restaurants have been the backbone of the communities they serve and the culture they preserve. They create unapologetic safe spaces for joy, connection, and release, while Black-created or inspired dishes remind our souls about our history, magic, and purpose.

In Boston, the need to support Black-own restaurants is underrated and has impacted the identity, narrative, and belief that our City is even capable of sustaining Black culture. What must change in order for Boston Black-owned restaurants and the soul in our food to be respected, amplified, and holistically supported across communities?

Hear from Black restaurateurs, owners, and operators discuss the challenges and solutions they believe can chart new paths of opportunity for the next generation.
